Mason

Job Description: The Mason is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining masonry structures including walls, arches, and other structural elements. This role requires a skilled tradesperson with comprehensive knowledge of masonry techniques, materials, and safety procedures. A successful Mason works precisely according to specifications, maintains high-quality workmanship, and works safely on construction sites. You will work on diverse construction projects across Kenya, construct masonry structures in accordance with Kenya National Building Code requirements, and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on professional construction projects and develop your masonry trade skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, blocks, and stone according to architectural specifications
  • Mix and apply mortar and other bonding materials
  • Build walls, arches, fireplaces, and other masonry structures
  • Repair and maintain damaged masonry work
  • Follow Kenya National Building Code and safety regulations
  • Read and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Ensure plumb, level, and alignment of structures
  • Coordinate with other trades on construction sites
  • Maintain tools and work areas safely
  • Comply with all health and safety protocols on site
  • Document work completed and materials used
  • Train and mentor apprentices

Requirements

  • Technical training in masonry or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Valid Kenya professional mason certification or license
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on masonry construction experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Kenya National Building Code requirements
  • Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment
  • Understanding of various masonry materials and bonding techniques
  • Strong understanding of building safety procedures and OSHA/KEBS standards
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
  • Physical ability to work in challenging site conditions
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites
